“Long before she was a marionette, she was a fish. But ever since the professor gave her the tin body, she’s been longing to be back in the sea. To be nibbled at by her fellow schools of fish and brushed up against the manta rays. She longed for the sting of the salty water.
So, every Wednesday - on the day of water - she took herself out to the Aquarium. Enjoying the colourful swirls of her brethren behind glass. What if, she could join them one day? What if she plunged into the dark waters and let the metal corrode and rust away… To have coils of seaweed in her hair, sea anemones, Giant clams and coral along her body… Inviting new growth to happen upon her outer shell… As a robot, she could not create life of her own but perhaps she can become a shelter for many.
The light of the circular fish tank bounced off her face, reflecting a pensive gaze out into the blue haze.
Yes, maybe trading her fins held meaning afte
r all.”
